Saturday Fixture: @ Coventry

This Saturday sees the Sharks (10-1) travel to Coventry for a crunch match against the Jets (9-2). This is a key match for both teams as they fight for the 2 playoff spots, along with the Mildenhall Mayhem and the Leicester Eagles. Kickoff is at noon. However, as its a Saturday and traffic could be poor, the Chichester lot will need to leave Chichester at 7.30am, arriving at Hedge End by 8am to meet Neil and Gareth. Dayle will arrange a departure time with the Horsham based players. We'll all meet up at the Warwick services at 10am. Neil and Gary will be driving - passengers don't forget the petrol money! See you Saturday

News Round Up: Two Forfeits, Two Wins for Sharks

* Due to a shortage of players for their remaining fixtures, The West Kent Wing Dings have announced that they regretably will have to forfeit their remaining fixtures. We were due to play the Wing Dings on the 16th August in Coventry - we'll now be awarded the win for this match up * Due to the Kent Exiles failing to make alternative arrangements for their fixture with Chichester, the league has confirmed that they are awarding the win to the Sharks. Neither win is particularly satisfactory for us, it would have been better to play the games. However, it does now mean that we have a record of 10-1, with three games remaining. Those 3 games are incredibly important. We play against Coventry, Leicester and Mildenhall - all challengers for the 2…

Player Stats Updated

Following this weekend's games we have a new leading scorer for the Sharks. Well done to Tom Newbery- to date he has scored 9 TDs and 10 XP - a total of 64 points. He takes over the top spot from Sean Wasley (52 pts), who only saw limited action this weekend as he recovers from mumps. Check the new player stats tables here. Neil is now both the leading scorer on defense with 9 pts (1 safety and an interception return) and joint leader in interceptions (shared with Ricardo on 3). And wary of letting him get a big head, Neil also has an incredible TD to INT ratio of 12:1 (48 TDs and 4 INTs). When you combine that with the fact that 13 different receivers have scored…

Sharks Victorious Over Playoff Rivals

Sharks Go 7 - 1 Well done everyone that played today in Leicester - it was an excellent performance and beating both the Jets and the Eagles has put us in a great position in the playoff race. Both Leicester and Coventry were unbeaten before today, so it was essential we came away with the wins. Results: Sharks 47 - 18 Jets Sharks 35 - 28 Eagles Jets 26 - 41 Eagles [caption id="attachment_312" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="The Victorious Chichester Sharks"][/caption] Below are the match reports I've submitted to the league. Sorry I couldn't mention everyone - it's hard to condense 80 minutes of football into a few paragraphs. Suffice to say, our 2 victories were a total team effort. Well done to all that played defense, those that played offense…

Former Shark Update: Matt Williams

Many of you will remember Matt from previous seasons with the Sharks and will be aware that he is now playing kitted football with Sussex Thunder. This week Matt played an instrumental part in the Thunder's win over South Conference rivals the Norwich Devils. Behind 6-0 in the first half, Matt scored a 4 yard touchdown to tie the game up. Thunder never lost the lead from that point and went on to win 20-6. Read the full game report here. The Thunder have a gap in their schedule soon, so Matt will be attempting to come down soon to join us at training. Well done, Matt, on your season so far.

Next Tournament: vs Leicester and Coventry

Just to draw your attention to the date of our next tournament - 13th July in Leicester. We'll be playing against the Leicester Eagles and the Coventry Jets. Both teams are currently undefeated, so it would be good to take our strongest team possible. Therefore, please every effort to ensure you're available for this trip. There is no training next Sunday (29th June), so please attend the week after (6th July) for our final tournament preparation. Well done to all those who trained today, it was an enjoyable session and very hot. I have the sunburn to prove it! Welcome to Martyn, who joined us today - I hope you enjoyed the session and hopefully we'll see you back on the 6th.

Start your own american football team

Do you love American football? Do you wish you could play American football? Do you wish you had a local American football team? If the answer is Yes, Yes, and Yes, what are you waiting for? Start your own American football team. If that sounds slightly ridiculous, think again. Starting an American football team doesn’t have to be that difficult – there is an easy route. Flag football. Flag football is American football without the helmets and crunching tackles, but all the fun of passing, catching and galloping runs.
