2009 starts on Sunday!

That's right, we've had a week off to get over the disappointment of no playoffs, so now its time to get back to business. As said in the comments after the tournament, the way the season ended left a bad taste in our mouths. I for one, don't want to experience that again, so I'm looking forward to training this Sunday so I can start preparing for the 2009 season. Anyone care to join me? Usual place, 10 a.m. sharp. The 2009 season motto...'Finish'.

Saturday Fixture: @ Coventry

This Saturday sees the Sharks (10-1) travel to Coventry for a crunch match against the Jets (9-2). This is a key match for both teams as they fight for the 2 playoff spots, along with the Mildenhall Mayhem and the Leicester Eagles. Kickoff is at noon. However, as its a Saturday and traffic could be poor, the Chichester lot will need to leave Chichester at 7.30am, arriving at Hedge End by 8am to meet Neil and Gareth. Dayle will arrange a departure time with the Horsham based players. We'll all meet up at the Warwick services at 10am. Neil and Gary will be driving - passengers don't forget the petrol money! News Round Up: Two Forfeits, Two Wins for Sharks

* Due to a shortage of players for their remaining fixtures, The West Kent Wing Dings have announced that they regretably will have to forfeit their remaining fixtures. We were due to play the Wing Dings on the 16th August in Coventry - we'll now be awarded the win for this match up * Due to the Kent Exiles failing to make alternative arrangements for their fixture with Chichester, the league has confirmed that they are awarding the win to the Sharks. Neither win is particularly satisfactory for us, it would have been better to play the games. However, it does now mean that we have a record of 10-1, with three games remaining. Those 3 games are incredibly important. We play against Coventry, Leicester and Mildenhall - all challengers for the 2…

Player Stats Updated

Following this weekend's games we have a new leading scorer for the Sharks. Well done to Tom Newbery- to date he has scored 9 TDs and 10 XP - a total of 64 points. He takes over the top spot from Sean Wasley (52 pts), who only saw limited action this weekend as he recovers from mumps. Check the new player stats tables here. Neil is now both the leading scorer on defense with 9 pts (1 safety and an interception return) and joint leader in interceptions (shared with Ricardo on 3). And wary of letting him get a big head, Neil also has an incredible TD to INT ratio of 12:1 (48 TDs and 4 INTs). When you combine that with the fact that 13 different receivers have scored…

Devon Game Film

Here is the first video from Devon - our victory over the St. Albans Kings. Kings Part 1 Kings Part 2 I'd forgotten about Ric's endzone dance...it's something 'special'. And here is the film from the Devon game. Unfortunately, there is a bit where part of a drive is missing as the battery ran out. By the time a new battery was in, we'd scored - and it was my score that was missing! Sharks Win Wild West Shoot Out

There were touchdowns aplenty in Devon on Sunday, as the Sharks took on and defeated both the St. Albans Kings and the North Devon Dogs. There were 222 points scored in just 3 matches with an average of 74 points a game - which is just incredible. Well done to all the Sharks that went on Sunday, it was an awesome team effort, especially considering the heat. The final results were as follows: Sharks 61 - 0 Kings Dogs 100 - 6 Kings Sharks 43 - 12 Dogs Dayle had set us the target of two shut outs to aim for and whilst we didn't quite achieve that we came very close - to concede 2 scores against the Dogs after watching them rack up 100 points against the Kings…

New Fixtures List Released

Finally, after much work by Neil coordinating with other teams, we now have a finalised fixture list for the 2008 BAFL Flag football season. Strong start for Sharks

Well done to all the guys that struggled through the snow to Mildenhall yesterday, to kick off the Sharks 2008 season. I'm gutted I couldn't make it (the boy is now fine btw). By all accounts you put up a good fight and gave the Mayhem a run for their money. Just a shame they went and ruined it for you with a last second TD. Extra nod to the performance of two new guys, Sean and Tom (well kinda new in Tom's case), who both racked up a couple of scores apiece, with some great catches. I also hear there was a 2 length-of-the-field TD performance from our 'retired' Coach Kirby. That would have been fun to see. It's a little hard for me to write the day up…

Sharks ready for opener

Well done to everyone who attended our first training camp this weekend at Christ's Hospital. Personally, I thought it was a very enjoyable day - not just from a football point of view but also to get to know the team better. A huge thanks to Dayle for organising the day - well done to you. And also thanks to Neil and Dave for running their respective parts of the day. I hope that everyone who attended got something out of the day. Training Camp This Weekend

This Sunday sees the first ever Chichester Sharks training camp, held at Christ's Hospital, near Horsham. The camp will be run by Head Coach Dayle Kirby, with assistance from coaches Dave Lee and Neil Henderson and the club committee. The day will involve a mixture of classroom and on field elements, designed to prepare us for the inaugural 2008 BAFL Flag season. The morning classroom sessions will include a review of both the offensive and defensive playbooks, before taking to the field to put the learnings into practise in the afternoon.
