Sharks host friendlies

The Chichester Sharks hosted fellow BAFL Flag team the St Albans KIngs and newly formed Peter Symonds Sabres last weekend in Chichester in a series of post season friendlies. First up was the host team Sharks vs new boys the Sabres, who formed in January at Peter Symonds sixth form college in Winchester, for their first competitive game. Sporting a number of rookies who had only had one training session the Sabres took the early lead with a long pass on their first possesion after the Sharks couldn't move the ball on their first. The teams traded scores, including a first ever pass completion for a TD by Sharks long time centre Gary Robinson (on a trick play to QB Neil Henderson). The Sharks led by a single score at…

Breaking News: Bulls Win All Scottish Final

News just in.... The Kirkcaldy Bulls have won the inaugural BAFL Flag championship title,  beating the Carluke Cobras 48-13 in the finals. This is also the 6th year in a row they have won their Scottish league/Conference. Quite a remarkable feat. Carluke and Kirkcaldy made the final by merit of beating the English teams, Coventry and Leicester in the semi-finals. The final results are: Semi-Finals Coventry Jets 30-38 Kirkcaldy Bulls Carluke Cobras 19-13 Leicester Eagles 3rd/4th Place Playoff Leicester Eagles v Coventry Jets National Championship Game Kirkcaldy Bulls 48 v 13 Carluke Cobras It's a shame we didn't make it to the finals this year, as I would have loved to see how we would match up with the top Scottish teams, but alas, it was not to be. There…

********************************** On hold until I can get the stupid thing to work - bear with me! ********************************** Hi All I have set up a Chichester Sharks NFL predictor league set up (through ESPN) for the 2008 season to help us raise funds for the club. Each week you can predict the outcome of all the NFL games. It will cost £5 to enter for the whole season. The person with the highest score at the end of the regular season will win 50% of the total entry money. The other 50% will go towards supporting the club and purchasing new equipment for training. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the person with the most number of winning weeks (highest or joint highest score), followed by the…

2009 starts on Sunday!

That's right, we've had a week off to get over the disappointment of no playoffs, so now its time to get back to business. As said in the comments after the tournament, the way the season ended left a bad taste in our mouths. I for one, don't want to experience that again, so I'm looking forward to training this Sunday so I can start preparing for the 2009 season. Anyone care to join me? Usual place, 10 a.m. sharp. The 2009 season motto...'Finish'.

Sharks Fall At Final Hurdle

It could have been oh so different. In a day where very little went our way, the Sharks lost to fellow playoff contenders, the Jets and Eagles and missed out on a trip to the semi-finals/finals. The day started badly when we heard that the Mildenhall Mayhem had decided to forfeit their remaining fixtures - gifting Leicester and Coventry two wins each - a killer considering we played the Mayhem earlier in the year and had narrowly lost. This put our rivals in a good position, not having to face the tough americans. The finals scores on the day were: Jets 58-34 Sharks Eagles 48-47 Sharks We just missed out in a tense final game against the Eagles. It wasn't any single play, we just didn't make enough plays on…

Saturday Fixture: @ Coventry

This Saturday sees the Sharks (10-1) travel to Coventry for a crunch match against the Jets (9-2). This is a key match for both teams as they fight for the 2 playoff spots, along with the Mildenhall Mayhem and the Leicester Eagles. Kickoff is at noon. However, as its a Saturday and traffic could be poor, the Chichester lot will need to leave Chichester at 7.30am, arriving at Hedge End by 8am to meet Neil and Gareth. Dayle will arrange a departure time with the Horsham based players. We'll all meet up at the Warwick services at 10am. Neil and Gary will be driving - passengers don't forget the petrol money! See you Saturday

News Round Up: Two Forfeits, Two Wins for Sharks

* Due to a shortage of players for their remaining fixtures, The West Kent Wing Dings have announced that they regretably will have to forfeit their remaining fixtures. We were due to play the Wing Dings on the 16th August in Coventry - we'll now be awarded the win for this match up * Due to the Kent Exiles failing to make alternative arrangements for their fixture with Chichester, the league has confirmed that they are awarding the win to the Sharks. Neither win is particularly satisfactory for us, it would have been better to play the games. However, it does now mean that we have a record of 10-1, with three games remaining. Those 3 games are incredibly important. We play against Coventry, Leicester and Mildenhall - all challengers for the 2…
