Congratulations to Matt Williams, former Chichester Shark, on winning the British American Football League One championship with the Sussex Thunder.

Last Saturday the Thunder topped the Redditch Arrows 20-18 in overtime, in the longest ever championship in British American Football history. With the teams so evenly matched, it took FOUR overtime periods to decide the winner!

Matt caught several passes during the game, including a 20+ yard catch on a crucial 3rd and 10 play.

As the Sussex Thunder season is over, Matt is likely to be joining us for some of our off-season training sessions.

If  you want to read more about the Final, there is a great match report on the Sussex Thunder site. There are also some fantastic photographs from the Final on the website of photographer Graham Beardsley.

A FINE ADVERT FOR THE GAME IN THE ‘SHAPE’ OF THUNDER NO.71

WE SHOULD TRY AND GET HIM DOWN FOR THE OFF-SEASON TOO. A GREAT ADDITION TO THE SQUAD.
