At the Chichester Sharks, it is important that our members can train and play in a fun and safe environment. This is reflected in our approach to coaching. All our coaches are qualified through the Flag Leaders Award programme and have experience of developing players of all ages and varying skill levels. All of our coaches also have extensive playing experience.

In addition, each of our coaches has been CRB checked and is dedicated to providing a safe environment, not just for minors, but for players of all ages. The club Welfare Policy is available here.

In addition to our three appointed coaches, we actively encourage our players to undertake recognised coaching qualifications, to build both their knowledge of the game and to develop their skills as coaches.

Coaching History:

Dayle Kirby – Head Coach 2008

Coaching History:

GB Lions coach, Dayle Kirby became the Chichester Sharks first head coach in January 2008. He had spent the 2007 season as a defensive back for the Sharks and previously spent several years at local rival, the Barbarians, based in Horsham.

In 2008, Kirby guided the Sharks to an 11-3 record, narrowly missing out on a semi-final place in the inaugural BAFL Flag season. Along with his coaching assistants, he implemented a new training system, off field classroom theory sessions and instilled a hard working, positive mind set to the squad.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, Kirby had to step down as Head Coach at the end of the2008  season, but remains involved with the club.
